How to Use: Accurate and Safe Dosing
Dosage of M&B Ibuprofen Suspension
The dosage is strictly based on the patient's weight/age and must be accurately measured. Take as directed by the pharmacist or physician.
Dosing Schedule (General Guidance for 100 mg/5 mL strength):
- Infants 3-6 months (weighing over 5 kg): 2.5 mL up to 3 times in 24 hours. Do not give for more than 24 hours without medical advice.
- Children 6 months - 1 year: 2.5 mL 3 to 4 times a day.
- Children 1 year - 4 years: 5 mL 3 to 4 times a day.
- Children 4 years - 7 years: 7.5 mL 3 times a day.
*Note: Doses should be given every 6 to 8 hours. Leave at least 4 between doses. DO NOT exceed the stated dose.
Administration
- Proper Administration: Shake the bottle well before use. Always use the measuring device (spoon or syringe) provided in the pack to ensure accuracy. Do not use household teaspoons.
- Best Time to Take It: It is best to take M&B Ibuprofen Suspension with food or milk to reduce the risk of stomach upset and irritation.
Contraindications of M&B Ibuprofen Suspension
Do NOT give M&B Ibuprofen Suspension if the patient:
- Has or has ever had a stomach ulcer, perforation, or bleeding (including bloody, black, or tarry stools).
- Is allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin, or any other Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) (symptoms include asthma, runny nose, or facial swelling).
- Has severe heart, kidney, or liver failure.
- Is an adult who is in the last trimester of pregnancy.
- Is an infant under 3 months of age or weighs less than 5 kg.
- Is taking another NSAID or aspirin dose above 75 text mg daily.
Side Effects of M&B Ibuprofen Suspension
Common Side Effects (Mild and Expected): Stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, or headache.
- Serious but Rare Side Effects:
- Signs of stomach bleeding: Vomiting blood or dark particles that look like coffee grounds, passing blood in stools, or black tarry stools.
- Signs of allergic reaction: Unexplained wheezing, asthma, severe rash/blistering (SJS/TEN), swelling of the face, tongue, or throat.
- Signs of kidney problems: Decreased urination or swelling of ankles/feet.
- What to do if side effects occur: Stop the medication immediately and seek medical attention if any serious symptoms (especially stomach bleeding or allergic reactions) occur.
