The holiday season is upon and we have curated a list of tips to help you stay healthy and have the most fun this season.
Drink water. It is easy to get carried away with all the fun and excitement that comes with the holiday season and you forget to drink water. Remind yourself to drink water after every activity you have planned out. Set daily reminders on your alarm to remind you to stay hydrated. Water rejuvenates your skin and helps your internal organs stay healthy.
Eat your carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are the source of energy needed for our bodies to function properly. Do not completely cut them because you want to stay healthy, instead practice portion control. Eat carbohydrates but do not have much. Increase your protein take.
Do not overcompensate. It is easy to be tempted to want to overcompensate this holiday season by binge eating, binge sleeping, binge-watching, etc. Do not overfeed yourself with food or content because it still affects your body by messing up your weight, your sleep cycle, and your ability to focus. Moderation is key.
Eat fruits and vegetables. The smell of cookies, chocolate, and sweets would fill everywhere. Do not forget to eat fruit and vegetables. Incorporate fruits and vegetables into your holiday shopping list.
Stay physically active. While the holidays are a time to take a break from work, school, and many activities, Exercise is still important. Make sure to keep fit with an exercise you love. Do not wait until the new year before you exercise. Take 10-30 minutes to work out and get stretched.
Keep your hands clean. One of the most effective methods of preventing disease to date is handwashing. Make sure you wash your hands regularly with soap and water. Carry a sanitizer with you if you would not have access to soap and water every time. Clean hands save lives.
Keep your house accident-free. Home accidents can occur even more during the holidays because everybody is around and excitement is in the air. Arrange your furniture correctly. Make sure to turn off home appliances that are not in use. Make sure to pick up Christmas decorations lying carelessly.
Get vaccinated. Especially if you are traveling. Get flu shots because the holidays are also in the cold seasons when flu is prevalent.
