Dosage of Lamisil Spray

Lamisil Spray is an Over-the-Counter (OTC) medicine.

Apply once daily (or twice daily for athlete's foot between the toes) for one week, or as directed by a doctor.

Proper Administration

• Route: Topical spray to the skin.
• How to Use:
  1. Wash the affected skin area with soap and water and dry thoroughly.
  2. Spray enough solution from a distance of 5 to 10 cm to thoroughly wet the affected skin and the surrounding area. The spray is applied touch-free.
  3. Allow the area to air dry completely.
  4. Wash hands thoroughly after touching the infected area and after application to prevent spreading the infection.
• Timing: Apply once daily (morning or night) for ringworm and jock itch, or twice daily for interdigital athlete's foot.
• Duration: Typically one week of continuous application is sufficient for a cure.

Missed Dose Guidance

• If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember, and then continue with your usual routine. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Contraindications of Lamisil Spray

Do NOT use Lamisil Spray if you:

• Have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to Terbinafine or any other component in the spray solution (including alcohol/ethanol).
• Are applying it on the nails or scalp (requires oral medication or a different topical form).
• Are applying it in or near the mouth or eyes.
• Are treating a vaginal yeast infection.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Warnings

• Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Use only if clearly indicated by a physician.
• Breastfeeding: Do NOT use Lamisil Spray if you are breastfeeding, as the active ingredient can be absorbed in small amounts and pass into breast milk.

Side Effects of Lamisil Spray

Side effects are generally localized to the application site and are usually mild.

• Common Side Effects (Mild and Expected): Mild skin irritation, temporary redness (erythema), dryness, peeling, slight burning, or itching at the application site. These effects are usually mild and temporary.
• Serious but Rare Side Effects (that may require medical attention):
  • Severe Allergic Reactions: Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing (stop use immediately).
  • Increased Irritation: If irritation or a rash occurs or gets worse, or if symptoms persist beyond two weeks.

What to do if side effects occur:

• For mild temporary redness or peeling, treatment can usually continue.
• If irritation is severe, or if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, stop the medication immediately and seek emergency medical attention.
• Eye Contact: If contact with the eyes occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with cool running water and consult a doctor if irritation persists.

Precautions and Warnings of Lamisil Spray

• External Use Only: This product is strictly for external, cutaneous use only. Do not swallow or inhale the spray.
• Flammable: CRUCIAL WARNING: Due to the Alcohol (Ethanol) content (typically 23.5% w/w), the spray is highly flammable. Keep it away from heat, sparks, open flames, or any source of ignition, including smoking, during application.
• Duration of Use: The full treatment course is typically one week. If there are no signs of improvement after two weeks of treatment, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
• Hygienic Practices: To prevent re-infection, wear well-fitting, ventilated shoes and change socks (preferably cotton) and underwear (loose-fitting, cotton) daily.
• Children: Not recommended for use in children under 12 or 16 years of age (depending on the region/severity of the product), unless specifically advised by a physician.

The active ingredient is Terbinafine Hydrochloride (1% w/w). It is supplied as a topical spray solution in a pump or aerosol bottle (common sizes are 15mL and 30mL). It is an Over-the-Counter (OTC) Antifungal Medicine.
