Dosage of Mycoten-Plus 7 Vaginal Tablets with Applicator

Take as directed by the pharmacist or physician.

• Standard Adult Dosage: Insert one vaginal tablet deep into the vagina once daily (preferably at bedtime) for 7 consecutive days.

Proper Administration

• Administration: Use the provided applicator to insert the tablet. Wash hands thoroughly before and after insertion. Follow the instructions for loading and using the applicator exactly.
• Best Time to Take: Insertion should be done at night before retiring to bed to allow the tablet to dissolve and remain in the vagina for maximum effectiveness.
• Missed Dose Guidance: If you miss a dose, insert it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not use two tablets at once.

Contraindications of Mycoten-Plus 7 Vaginal Tablets

• Known Allergies: Do NOT use if you have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to Clotrimazole, Metronidazole, other imidazole derivatives, or any components of the tablet/applicator.
• First Trimester of Pregnancy: Metronidazole is generally contraindicated during the first trimester of pregnancy. Consult your doctor immediately if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
• Blood Disorders: Individuals with pre-existing blood dyscrasias (abnormal blood cell composition) or active neurological disorders should use with extreme caution and only under medical supervision.
• Children/Adolescents: Not recommended for use in children or young adolescents unless directed by a doctor.

Side Effects of Mycoten-Plus 7 Vaginal Tablets

Side effects are usually mild and local, but Metronidazole can have systemic effects.

• Common Side Effects (Mild and Expected): Local irritation, mild burning or stinging sensation in the vaginal area (especially upon first insertion), mild abdominal cramps, or a metallic taste in the mouth (systemic effect of Metronidazole).
• Serious but Rare Side Effects (That May Require Medical Attention): Severe, persistent vaginal burning or swelling, severe skin rash, peripheral neuropathy (numbness/tingling in limbs - rare with local use), or signs of a systemic allergic reaction. If these occur, stop use immediately and consult a doctor.

Precautions and Warnings of Mycoten-Plus 7 Vaginal Tablets

• Alcohol Interaction (Crucial): DO NOT consume alcohol during treatment with Mycoten-Plus and for at least 48 hours (2 days) after the final dose. Metronidazole can cause a severe reaction with alcohol (Disulfiram-like reaction), including flushing, vomiting, and rapid heartbeat.
• Full Course Completion: It is vital to complete the full seven-day course, even if symptoms improve quickly, to ensure the infection is completely cleared and to prevent the development of drug resistance.
• Sexual Activity: It is generally advisable to avoid sexual intercourse during treatment. The tablets can also damage latex condoms and diaphragms, reducing their effectiveness as a contraceptive barrier.
• Menstruation: Do not start treatment during menstruation. If menstruation begins during the course, complete the full 7-day course.
