About this item
This medication is used to treat occasional upset stomach, heart burn and nausea. It is also used to treat diarrhea and help prevent travelers' diarrhea. It works by helping to slow the growth of bacteria that might be causing the diarrhea.
Adults and children over 16 years only:
•Shake the bottle well before use
•Pour 30ml (one dose) into the cup provided and swallow.
•Repeat the dose every 30-60 minutes if needed.
•Do not take more than 8 doses in 24 hours
•If used for longer than 2 days, or in higher doses than recommended has been associated with an increased in side effects.
•If you have diarrhoea, it is important to prevent or treat dehydration by drinking plenty of fluids or taking oral rehydration products, especially if you are frail or elderly.
Pepto-Bismol Oral Suspension contains the active ingredient bismuth subsalicylate. It works by forming a soothing and protective coating of your stomach and intestine.
Do not use if;
•Under 16 years due to a possible reaction between salicylates and Reye's syndrome (a very rare but very serious disease)
•Allergic to salicylates including aspirin or any of the other ingredients
•Taking other salicylates including aspirin
•Pregnant or breast-feeding
