Dosage of Relev Rapid Tablets

Relev Rapid Tablets (550mg) are a Prescription Only Medicine (POM).

Take as directed by the pharmacist or physician.

The dosage is individualized by your doctor based on your condition. For chronic conditions, it is typically 550mg to 1100mg daily in two divided doses. For acute pain or migraine, a higher initial dose may be followed by smaller doses every 6-8 hours, not exceeding the maximum daily limit (usually 1375mg).

Proper Administration

• Route: Oral.
• How to Take: Swallow the Relev Rapid Tablets whole with a full glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.
• Food/Drink Interactions: To prevent stomach upset, it is strongly recommended to take Relev Rapid Tablets with a meal, milk, or an antacid.
• Best Time of Day: Usually taken twice daily at 12-hour intervals for chronic conditions.

Missed Dose Guidance

• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
• If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.
• Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.

Contraindications of Relev Rapid Tablets

Do NOT take Relev Rapid Tablets if you:

• Have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to Naproxen Sodium, other NSAIDs (like Ibuprofen or Aspirin), or any other ingredient in the tablet.
• Have experienced asthma, hives (urticaria), or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs (known as Aspirin-Sensitive Asthma).
• Have a history of active or recurrent peptic ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, or perforation.
• Have severe, uncontrolled heart failure.
• Are taking it for pain immediately before or after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) surgery, due to increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Warnings

• Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Use of NSAIDs like Relev Rapid Tablets is generally not recommended after 20 weeks of pregnancy, and specifically contraindicated after 30 weeks as it may cause heart problems in the fetus.
• Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor. Naproxen can pass into breast milk. Your doctor will weigh the risks and benefits.

Side Effects of Relev Rapid Tablets

Side effects should be monitored, and the lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest time.

• Common Side Effects (Mild and Expected): Stomach upset (heartburn, nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia), constipation or diarrhea, gas, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, and tinnitus (ringing in the ears). These often resolve as your body adjusts.
• Serious but Rare Side Effects (that may require medical attention):
  • Signs of Gastrointestinal Bleeding (black, tarry stools; vomiting blood that looks like coffee grounds; or severe, persistent stomach pain).
  • Signs of Cardiovascular Events (chest pain, sudden weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech).
  • Severe Allergic/Skin Reactions (swelling of the face, lips, or throat; difficulty breathing; severe skin rash/blisters).
  • Signs of Kidney or Liver Problems (unusual weight gain, swelling of the hands or feet, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes).

What to do if side effects occur:

• For common stomach upset, take Relev Rapid Tablets with food or milk.
• If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking the medication immediately and seek emergency medical attention.

Precautions and Warnings of Relev Rapid Tablets

• Before Starting Relev Rapid Tablets: Discuss your complete medical history with your doctor, especially if you have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, fluid retention (edema), kidney or liver disease, asthma, bleeding disorders, or if you are taking any other NSAIDs or blood thinners.
• During Use:
  • Cardiovascular Risk: Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration, as NSAIDs can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.
  • GI Risk: The risk of ulcers, bleeding, and perforation in the stomach is increased, especially in the elderly.
  • Alcohol: Avoid alcohol, as it significantly increases the risk of stomach bleeding.
  • Driving: Exercise caution when driving or operating heavy machinery due to the risk of dizziness and drowsiness.
  • Drug Interactions: Concomitant use with ACE inhibitors, Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARBs), or Beta-Blockers may diminish the antihypertensive effect of these drugs.
