Dosage of ROBB BALM Ointment

ROBB BALM Ointment is an Over-the-Counter (OTC) medicine.

Apply a small amount to the affected area and massage gently, 2 to 3 times a day, as needed.

Proper Administration

• Route: Topical ointment.
• How to Use (Pain): Apply a small amount of ointment to the affected muscle or joint area. Massage gently and thoroughly until the balm is fully absorbed into the skin.
• How to Use (Congestion): Apply a small amount to the chest, back, and throat. For nasal congestion, apply a tiny amount to the outside of the nostrils or under the nose (avoiding the inside of the nose).
• Timing: Can be applied 2 to 3 times a day, or as needed for relief.

Missed Dose Guidance

• Not applicable, as this is an as-needed symptomatic reliever.

Contraindications of ROBB BALM Ointment

Do NOT use ROBB BALM Ointment if you:

• Have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to Menthol, Camphor, Methyl Salicylate, Eucalyptus Oil, or any component of the balm (especially aspirin or other salicylates).
• Are applying it to broken skin, open wounds, cuts, scrapes, or areas with severe irritation.
• Are treating children under 2 years of age (due to the risk of respiratory distress from Camphor/Menthol vapours).
• Are applying it near the eyes or inside the nose or mouth.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Warnings

• Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Due to the systemic absorption of Methyl Salicylate (which is chemically similar to Aspirin), use is generally not recommended in the third trimester of pregnancy (after 20 weeks) as it may affect the unborn baby. Use only under the advice of a healthcare professional.
• Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor. Avoid applying the balm to the breast area to prevent accidental ingestion by the infant.

Side Effects of ROBB BALM Ointment

Side effects are generally mild and localized.

• Common Side Effects (Mild and Expected): Localized skin redness, warmth, stinging, or mild burning sensation at the application site due to the counterirritant effect.
• Serious but Rare Side Effects (that may require medical attention):
  • Severe Allergic Reactions: Blistering, severe swelling, rash, or difficulty breathing.
  • Reye's Syndrome Risk (Children): The ingredient Methyl Salicylate carries a risk of Reye's syndrome in children and teenagers (under 18) with viral illnesses like the flu or chickenpox. DO NOT use on children with a fever or signs of a viral illness unless directed by a doctor.
  • Systemic Toxicity: Severe symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or ringing in the ears (tinnitus) may occur if large amounts are ingested or absorbed.

What to do if side effects occur:

• If blistering, severe redness, or increased/unusual pain occurs, stop the medication immediately and consult a physician.
• If swallowed: Seek emergency medical attention immediately.

Precautions and Warnings of ROBB BALM Ointment

• External Use Only/Poisonous: This ointment is strictly for external topical use. It is poisonous if swallowed and must be kept safely out of the reach of children.
• Heat Interaction: DO NOT apply the ointment immediately before, during, or after activities that increase skin temperature (e.g., hot bathing, saunas, heavy exercise) or apply a heating pad/hot water bottle to the treated area. Heat can increase absorption and the risk of severe burns or toxicity.
• Children's Use: Not suitable for children under 2 years of age. Use with caution on children aged 2-12.
• Avoid Occlusion: Do not bandage or tightly wrap the treated area.
• Asthma/Respiratory: Use caution when applying near the nose of children, as menthol/camphor vapours can sometimes trigger breathing problems.

The active ingredients include Camphor, Menthol, Methyl Salicylate, Eucalyptus Oil, and Pumilio Pine Oil. It is supplied as a topical ointment/balm in small tins or jars (common sizes are 3.5g, 8g, 23g, 25mL). It is an Over-the-Counter (OTC) External Analgesic and Decongestant.
