Proper Administration

• Route: Oral.
• How to Take: Swallow the Biopentin NT Tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.
• When to Take: It may be taken with or without food, but it is often recommended to take it at a fixed time, preferably at night (bedtime), due to the potential for dizziness and sleepiness.

Missed Dose Guidance

Contraindications of Biopentin NT Tablets

Do NOT take Biopentin NT Tablets if you:

• Have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to Gabapentin, Nortriptyline, or any other ingredient in the tablet.
• Have recently had a heart attack (myocardial infarction).
• Are taking or have taken a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI) antidepressant within the last 14 days, as this can lead to a serious drug interaction (Serotonin Syndrome).
• Have certain severe heart problems, such as arrhythmias.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Warnings

• Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. The use of Biopentin NT Tablets during pregnancy is generally advised only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
• Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor. Both Gabapentin and Nortriptyline can pass into breast milk. Your doctor will weigh the risks versus benefits and monitor the infant closely for side effects like excessive sleepiness.

Side Effects of Biopentin NT Tablets

They can include dizziness, sleepiness (somnolence), tiredness, dry mouth, blurred vision, difficulty urinating, constipation, weight gain, and uncoordinated body movements (ataxia). • Before Starting: Discuss your complete medical history with your doctor, especially if you have Kidney or Liver disease (dose adjustment may be necessary), Heart problems (especially those with a slow heart rate or risk of arrhythmias), a history of depression, suicidal thoughts, or mood disorders, or breathing problems (e.g., COPD or respiratory depression).
• During Use:
  • Alcohol: Avoid consuming alcohol, as it can dangerously increase drowsiness and dizziness.
  • Antacids: Avoid taking antacids within two hours before or after taking Biopentin NT Tablets, as they can interfere with Gabapentin absorption.
  • Driving/Operating Machinery: Due to the risk of dizziness and drowsiness, exercise caution with activities requiring mental alertness.
• Long-term Safety: Do not stop taking Biopentin NT Tablets suddenly. Abrupt discontinuation can lead to withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, nausea, sweating, pain) or even increased seizures. Your doctor will advise on a gradual dose reduction (tapering).
