Dosage of Lamisil Cream

Lamisil Cream is an Over-the-Counter (OTC) medicine.

Apply once or twice daily for one to two weeks, or as directed by a doctor.

Proper Administration

• Route: Topical cream to the skin.
• How to Use:
  • Wash the affected skin area with soap and water and dry thoroughly before application.
  • Squeeze out a small amount of cream onto your finger (enough to cover the area with a thin layer).
  • Gently rub the cream into the affected skin and the immediate surrounding area.
  • Wash hands thoroughly after application to prevent spreading the infection.
• Timing and Duration:
  • Ringworm & Jock Itch: Apply once daily for 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Athlete's Foot (between toes): Apply twice daily (morning and night) for 1 week.
  • Athlete's Foot (bottom/sides of foot): Apply twice daily (morning and night) for 2 weeks.

Missed Dose Guidance

• If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember, and then continue with your usual routine. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Contraindications of Lamisil Cream

Do NOT use Lamisil Cream if you:

• Have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to Terbinafine or any other component in the cream (e.g., Benzyl Alcohol).
• Are applying it on the nails or scalp (these require oral medication for sufficient penetration).
• Are applying it in or near the mouth or eyes.
• Are treating a vaginal yeast infection.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Warnings

• Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. The cream should not be used during pregnancy, unless advised to by a doctor, due to limited safety data.
• Breastfeeding: Do NOT use Lamisil Cream if you are breastfeeding, unless specifically advised by a doctor. Avoid applying the cream to the breast area to prevent accidental ingestion by the infant.

Side Effects of Lamisil Cream

Side effects are generally localized to the application site and are usually mild.

• Common Side Effects (Mild and Expected): Application site reactions, including mild skin irritation, temporary redness (erythema), dryness, or peeling.
• Serious but Rare Side Effects (that may require medical attention):
  • Severe Allergic Reactions: Rash, hives (urticaria), severe itching, swelling of the face/mouth, or difficulty breathing (stop use immediately).
  • Contact Dermatitis: Local skin reactions caused by excipients like Cetyl Alcohol or Benzyl Alcohol.

What to do if side effects occur:

• For mild temporary redness or peeling, treatment can usually continue.
• If irritation is severe or if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, stop the medication immediately and seek emergency medical attention.
• Eye Contact: If contact with the eyes occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with cool running water and consult a doctor if irritation persists.

Precautions and Warnings of Lamisil Cream

• External Use Only: This product is strictly for external, cutaneous use only. Do not swallow.
• Duration of Use: The treatment course is typically one to two weeks, depending on the infection type. Complete the full course even if symptoms clear up after a few days. If there are no signs of improvement within 1 to 2 weeks, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
• Hygienic Practices: To prevent re-infection, carefully dry affected areas after bathing, especially between the toes. Wear well-ventilated, loose-fitting clothing and change socks and underwear daily.
• Children: The cream is not generally recommended for use on children under 12 years of age, unless specifically advised by a physician.

The active ingredient is Terbinafine Hydrochloride (1% w/w). It is supplied as a topical cream in an aluminum tube (common sizes are 15g and 30g). It is an Over-the-Counter (OTC) Antifungal Medicine.
