Take as directed by a pharmacist or physician. For adults and children aged 6 years and over, the standard over-the-counter dosage is 1 tablet (10 mg) daily. 

Contraindications of Zyncet Tablets

• End-Stage Renal Failure: Do NOT use if you suffer from severe kidney impairment or end-stage renal disease requiring dialysis, as cetirizine clears through the kidneys and can accumulate to toxic levels.
• Hypersensitivity: Strictly contraindicated if you have a known history of severe allergic reactions to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, or any piperazine derivatives.

Side Effects of Zyncet Tablets

• Common: Mild dry mouth, a slight feeling of fatigue or drowsiness, a mild sore throat, or temporary headaches.
• Rare: Localized skin rashes, abdominal discomfort, or paradoxical agitation.
• Action: While significantly less sedating than older drugs, a small percentage of individuals still experience mild daytime sluggishness. Assess your personal response before driving, operating heavy machinery, or undertaking safety-critical tasks.

Precautions and Warnings

• The Sedation Multiplier: Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages, prescription sleeping pills, or strong opioid painkillers while taking Zyncet. Combining them can heavily multiply central nervous system depression, making you dangerously drowsy.
• Urinary Retention: Consult your physician before starting if you have pre-existing risk factors for urinary retention, such as an enlarged prostate or spinal cord lesions, as antihistamines can rarely make urinating more difficult.
• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Consult your healthcare provider. While cetirizine has a strong safety profile, it should only be used during pregnancy if explicitly deemed necessary by an obstetrician. It should generally be avoided while breastfeeding as small amounts pass into breast milk.
