Dosage of Drez-V (Miconazole and Metronidazole) Vaginal Gel

Take as directed by the pharmacist or physician. This is a Prescription Only Medicine (POM).

• Standard Adult Dosage: One applicator-full of Drez-V Vaginal Gel should be inserted deeply into the vagina once daily, preferably at bedtime, for the duration prescribed by your doctor (typically 5 to 7 consecutive days).

Proper Administration

• Administration: Lie on your back with your knees bent. Use the sterile, disposable applicator provided to gently and accurately insert the prescribed amount of gel as deep into the vagina as comfortable.
• Best Time to Take: Apply at bedtime to ensure the medication remains in the vaginal area for the longest possible time, maximizing its efficacy.
• Hygiene: Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using the applicator. Use each applicator only once and dispose of it safely.
• Missed Dose Guidance: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not use two doses at once.

How to Store and Dispose of Drez-V (Miconazole and Metronidazole) Vaginal Gel

• Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, below 30 degree C away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the tube tightly closed and out of reach of children.
• Disposal: Dispose of the used applicator and any expired or unused gel safely by returning them to a pharmacy. Do not put in regular household waste.

Contraindications of Drez-V (Miconazole and Metronidazole) Vaginal Gel

• Known Allergies: Do NOT use if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Metronidazole, Miconazole, or any other ingredients in the gel formulation.
• First Trimester of Pregnancy: Metronidazole is generally contraindicated during the first trimester of pregnancy. Consult your doctor immediately if you are pregnant or planning to conceive.
• Alcohol Consumption: Strictly contraindicated with alcohol consumption during treatment and for at least 24-48 hours after the final dose (see warning below).
• Pre-existing Conditions: Inform your doctor if you have a history of epilepsy, severe liver or kidney disease, or blood disorders.

Side Effects of Drez-V (Miconazole and Metronidazole) Vaginal Gel

Side effects are mostly localized, but Metronidazole can lead to systemic reactions.

• Common Side Effects (Mild and Expected): Vaginal burning sensation, itching, irritation, increased vaginal discharge, headache, mild stomach pain, or nausea. These usually resolve as the body adjusts to the medicine.
• Serious but Rare Side Effects (That May Require Medical Attention): Signs of severe allergic reaction (rash, hives, swelling of the face/throat), severe abdominal cramps, or neurological symptoms (dizziness, loss of coordination, pain/tingling/numbness in hands or feet). If severe symptoms occur, stop use immediately and consult a doctor.

Precautions and Warnings of Drez-V (Miconazole and Metronidazole) Vaginal Gel

• Alcohol Interaction (CRITICAL): DO NOT consume alcohol or products containing alcohol (including some cough syrups) during the use of Drez-V Gel and for a minimum of 48 hours (2 days) after the final dose. This can cause a severe reaction (Disulfiram-like reaction) characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, flushing, and headaches.
• Sexual Activity & Contraceptives: It is generally recommended to avoid sexual intercourse during treatment. The oil-based nature of the gel can damage the latex in condoms and diaphragms, making them ineffective at preventing pregnancy and STIs. Use alternative forms of protection.
• Full Course Completion: Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor, even if symptoms improve quickly, to ensure the complete elimination of microorganisms and prevent relapse or drug resistance.

Accidental Exposure: If the gel accidentally gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with large amounts of cool water.
