Dosage of Elastoplast Extra Tough (Waterproof) Plasters

Elastoplast Extra Tough Plasters are an Over-the-Counter (OTC) consumable.

Use one plaster per wound, once daily, or as needed.

Proper Administration

• Route: Topical application to the skin.
• How to Use:
  1. Clean the wound and dry the skin around the cut or graze very carefully.
  2. Remove the backing film from the adhesive side of the plaster.
  3. Apply the plaster pad side down onto the wound without stretching, ensuring the pad covers the wound completely.
  4. Press down firmly to ensure all edges are securely sealed against the skin.
• Timing: Apply immediately after cleansing the wound.

Contraindications of Elastoplast Extra Tough (Waterproof) Plasters

Do NOT use Elastoplast Extra Tough Plasters if:

• The wound is deep, severely bleeding, or shows clear signs of active infection (increased redness, pus, pain, warmth).
• You are allergic to the adhesive material or the plaster fabric.
• You are attempting to reuse the plaster (use only once).

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Warnings

• General: As a non-medicated external plaster, Elastoplast Extra Tough Plasters are safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Side Effects of Elastoplast Extra Tough (Waterproof) Plasters

Side effects are rare and typically related to skin sensitivity to the strong adhesive.

• Common Side Effects (Mild and Expected): Temporary redness or mild irritation upon removal, especially if the plaster is left on for too long.
• Serious but Rare Side Effects (that may require medical attention):
  • Allergic Contact Dermatitis: Persistent redness, itching, or swelling underneath or around the plaster (requires immediate removal and consultation).

What to do if side effects occur:

• If irritation or rash occurs, remove the plaster immediately, gently clean the skin, and use an alternative sensitive-skin plaster or sterile dressing.

Precautions and Warnings of Elastoplast Extra Tough (Waterproof) Plasters

• Clean Wound First: Always clean the wound with an antiseptic (like Elastoplast Wound Spray) and gently dry the surrounding skin before applying the plaster to ensure both hygiene and maximum adhesion.
• Change Regularly: Change the plaster every 24 to 48 hours, or more often if the wound pad is heavily saturated or the seal has been compromised by prolonged water exposure.
• Application Technique: Apply the plaster without stretching it or creating creases, as this can compromise the waterproof seal.
• Latex Warning: If you have a latex allergy, double-check the packaging to ensure the product is 100% latex-free, as some older packaging may contain latex.
• Consult Doctor: Seek medical professional help for deep cuts, animal bites, serious burns, or wounds that show no sign of healing.

The plasters are made of durable, flexible, waterproof, and breathable fabric, utilizing Hi-DRY TEX Technology. They feature a super strong, skin-friendly adhesive and a non-stick wound pad. They are typically supplied in boxes of assorted strips (e.g., 12 or 15 assorted strips). It is an Over-the-Counter (OTC) Medical Consumable.
