Dosage of Fucibet Cream 30g

Fucibet Cream 30g is a Prescription Only Medicine (POM).

Apply a thin layer to the affected area twice daily, or as directed by the physician.

Proper Administration

• Route: Topical cream (External Use Only).
• How to Use:
  1. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application (unless treating the hands).
  2. Clean and gently dry the affected skin area.
  3. Apply a very thin layer of cream to the entire affected area and gently rub it in. The recommended amount is often measured using the Fingertip Unit (FTU).
• Timing: Apply twice daily, typically once in the morning and once in the evening, ensuring consistent spacing between doses, for the duration prescribed (maximum 14 days).
• Other Creams: Wait at least 30 minutes after applying Fucibet before applying any other moisturizer.

Missed Dose Guidance

• If you forget to apply a dose, apply it as soon as you remember.
• Then continue to use it at the usual time. Do not apply a double amount to compensate for a missed dose.

Contraindications of Fucibet Cream 30g

Do NOT use Fucibet Cream 30g if you:

• Have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to Fusidic Acid, Betamethasone, or any other component.
• Have viral skin infections, such as Herpes Simplex (cold sores), Chickenpox, or Shingles.
• Have fungal skin infections (like athlete's foot or thrush) that are not associated with eczema.
• Have rosacea, acne vulgaris, or perioral dermatitis (red rash around the mouth).
• Have skin infections related to Tuberculosis or Syphilis.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Warnings

• Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Fucibet should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary, as animal studies show potential harm from Betamethasone. Your doctor will weigh the benefits against the risks.
• Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor. Fucibet can be used, but should not be applied to the breasts or to large areas to prevent accidental ingestion or systemic absorption by the infant.

Side Effects of Fucibet Cream 30g

Side effects can occur, particularly with prolonged use or use on sensitive areas like the face.

• Common Side Effects (Mild and Expected): Application site reactions, including itching, burning sensation, irritation, dryness, or redness. These usually resolve soon after application.
• Serious but Rare Side Effects (that may require medical attention):
  • Steroid-related Side Effects (with prolonged use): Skin thinning (atrophy), stretch marks (striae), discoloration, visible veins (telangiectasia), excessive hair growth, or folliculitis.
  • Systemic Absorption: In infants, high doses or prolonged use can cause hormonal issues (Cushing's syndrome or adrenal suppression).
  • Allergic Reactions: Swelling of the face, throat, or difficulty breathing.

What to do if side effects occur:

• For mild, temporary burning/itching, continue use. If it persists or is bothersome, consult your doctor.
• If you notice signs of skin thinning, persistent rash, or any sign of a severe allergic reaction, stop the medication immediately and seek emergency medical attention.

Precautions and Warnings of Fucibet Cream 30g

• Prescription Only: This cream must be used only under the direction of a physician.
• Duration of Use: Limit treatment to a maximum of 14 days unless explicitly advised otherwise by a doctor. Prolonged use (over 2 weeks) significantly increases the risk of steroid-related side effects and antibiotic resistance.
• Facial Use: Avoid using Fucibet Cream on the face due to the high potency of Betamethasone, which can quickly cause skin thinning, perioral dermatitis, or rosacea-like symptoms. If prescribed for the face, use for the shortest possible duration.
• Avoid Occlusion: Do not cover the treated area with bandages, tight clothing, or plastic wrap unless your doctor specifically advises it, as occlusion increases steroid absorption.
• Fire Hazard: Ointment/cream residue on clothing can be a fire hazard. Avoid smoking or naked flames near treated areas or clothing.

The active ingredients are Fusidic Acid (2% w/w) and Betamethasone Valerate (0.1% w/w). It is supplied as a topical cream in a 30g aluminum tube. It is a Topical Antibiotic and Strong Corticosteroid combination and is a Prescription Only Medicine (POM).
