Take as directed by the pharmacist or physician. The starting dose is 2.5 mg once weekly for 4 weeks. This is a "loading dose" to help your body adjust. Afterward, the dose is typically increased in 2.5 mg increments every 4 weeks up to a maximum of 15 mg.

Contraindications of Mounjaro

Do NOT take Mounjaro if you:

• Have a personal or family history of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC).
• Have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
• Are allergic to Tirzepatide or any ingredients in the injection.
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Side Effects of Mounjaro

• Common: Nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, vomiting, constipation, and indigestion.
• Serious (Rare): Pancreatitis (severe stomach pain radiating to the back), gallbladder gallbladder problems, and acute kidney injury (often due to dehydration).
• Action: Most GI side effects are mild and occur during dose increases. If you experience severe, persistent abdominal pain, seek medical help immediately.

Precautions and Warnings

• Birth Control: Mounjaro may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Switch to a non-oral or barrier method for 4 weeks after starting and after each dose increase.
• Dehydration: Severe vomiting or diarrhea can lead to kidney issues. Drink plenty of water and electrolytes.
• Diabetic Retinopathy: Rapid improvement in blood sugar may temporarily worsen vision; report changes to your doctor.
