About this item

Swidar Tablets combines Sulfadoxine (500mg) and Pyrimethamine (25mg), two complementary antimalarial agents that work together to kill the parasite. Swidar Tablets are essential for the treatment of uncomplicated falciparum malaria (often in combination with other antimalarials) and are crucial for intermittent preventive treatment during pregnancy (IPTp-SP) in endemic areas.

How to Use

Dosage of Swidar Tablets

Prescription Only (POM): Take Swidar Tablets as directed by the pharmacist or physician.

General Dosage Guidelines:

  • Treatment of Acute Malaria (Single Dose): Adults and children over 45kg usually take 2 to 3 tablets as a single oral dose.
  • Intermittent Preventive Treatment in Pregnancy (IPTp-SP): 3 tablets taken as a single dose, monthly, starting from the second trimester.
  • Proper Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with plenty of water after a meal. Do not crush or chew.
  • Best Time: Take after a meal to aid absorption and reduce gastrointestinal upset.

Missed Dose Guidance: For the single-dose treatment, ensure the dose is taken as instructed. For IPTp, take the scheduled dose as soon as remembered and maintain the monthly interval.
