How to use Celebrex
Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start using celecoxib and each time you get a refill.
Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily. To decrease the chance of stomach upset, this drug is best taken with food.
Side Effects
Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: severe headache, pain/swelling/warmth in the groin/calf, signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine), difficult/painful swallowing, symptoms of heart failure (such as swelling ankles/feet, unusual tiredness, unusual/sudden weight gain).
Usual Adult Dose for Pain:
Acute pain: 400 mg initially, followed by 200 mg if needed on the first day. Then, 200 mg twice daily as needed.
Usual Adult Dose for Dysmenorrhea:
400 mg initially, followed by 200 mg if needed on the first day. Then, 200 mg twice daily as needed.
Usual Adult Dose for Osteoarthritis:
200 mg orally once daily or 100 mg orally twice daily.
Usual Adult Dose for Rheumatoid Arthritis:
100 to 200 mg orally twice daily.
