Product Details

About this item

Nevan is formulated to target inflammation at its source within the eye tissue. By inhibiting the production of prostaglandins—the chemicals responsible for swelling, redness, and pain—it helps protect the delicate structures of the eye during the critical healing period following surgery. Its unique penetration ability makes it highly effective for deep-tissue ocular inflammation.

How to Use

Application Instructions

  1. Shake Well: IMPORTANT: Nevan is a suspension. You must shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the medicine is evenly mixed.
  2. Wash Hands: Thoroughly wash your hands before application.
  3. Prepare: Tilt your head back and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  4. Apply: Place one (1) drop into the pocket. Do not let the dropper tip touch your eye, eyelid, or any other surface.
  5. Press: Close your eye and gently press the corner of your eye (near the nose) for 1 minute to prevent the liquid from draining away.
  6. Repeat: If prescribed for both eyes, repeat the steps for the other eye.

Proper Usage Tips

  • Frequency: Usually applied three (3) times daily, or as strictly directed by your ophthalmic surgeon.
  • Schedule: Start using the drops exactly when your doctor instructs—often beginning one day before surgery and continuing for several weeks after.
  • Contact Lenses: Avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment with Nevan unless specifically authorized by your doctor, as the preservative (Benzalkonium chloride) can discolor soft lenses and the eye may be too sensitive after surgery.

How to Store and Dispose of Nevan

  • Storage: Store at room temperature (below 30°C). Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
  • Expiration: Discard the bottle 4 weeks (28 days) after opening to ensure sterility and prevent infection.

Pharmacist's Advice

Safety and Precautions

Contraindications and Restrictions

  • Allergy: Do not use if you are allergic to Nepafenac, Aspirin, or any other NSAIDs (which may cause asthma or hives).
  • Bleeding Tendencies: Inform your doctor if you have a history of bleeding disorders or are taking blood thinners (like Warfarin), as topical NSAIDs may increase bleeding time in eye tissues.

Side Effects of Nevan

  • Common: Mild stinging or grittiness immediately after application, or temporary blurred vision.
  • Rare but Serious: Eye pain, increased redness, or changes in vision.
  • Action: If you experience "cloudy" vision or severe pain, contact your eye surgeon immediately, as NSAIDs can occasionally affect corneal thickness.

Precautions and Warnings

  • Slow Healing: Topical NSAIDs may slow down the healing process of the eye.
  • Sun Sensitivity: Some patients may experience increased sensitivity to light (photophobia); wearing sunglasses can help.
  • Avoid Mixing: Wait at least 5 minutes between using Nevan and any other eye drops.
