Dosage of Savlon Antiseptic Liquid

Savlon Antiseptic Liquid is an Over-the-Counter (OTC) product. Do not use undiluted.

Use according to the dilution instructions provided on the packaging.

Typical Dilution Guidelines (Always use a clean, accurate measuring device):

• Minor Cuts, Grazes, and Wounds (First Aid): Dilute 1 part of Savlon Antiseptic Liquid with 15 parts of clean water (e.g., 5 mL in 75 mL of water).
• Personal Hygiene (Bathing): Add 1 spoonful (approx. 5 mL) of Savlon to a bucket of water (approx. 10 Litres).
• General Antiseptic Cleansing: Dilute 60 mL to 90 mL in 1.0 to 1.5 litres of water.

Proper Administration

• Route: Topical application (skin) or surface cleaning.
• How to Use: Add the concentrate to water to create the correct dilution. Apply the diluted solution gently to the affected area using a clean cotton ball or cloth. Do not apply any dressing or bandage unless advised by a doctor.
• Frequency: Use as needed for wound cleaning or personal hygiene.

Missed Dose Guidance

• Not applicable, as this is an antiseptic and disinfectant used on demand.

Contraindications of Savlon Antiseptic Liquid 

Do NOT use Savlon Antiseptic Liquid if you:

• Have a known hypersensitivity or allergy to Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Cetrimide, or any other ingredient in the liquid.
• NEVER USE UNDILUTED on the skin, as it can cause irritation or chemical burns.
• DO NOT USE in body cavities, or near the middle ear, brain, or meninges.
• DO NOT SWALLOW.

• Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Information regarding the use of Savlon Antiseptic Liquid during pregnancy is generally limited, but it is typically considered safe for topical use when correctly diluted.
• Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor. If used as an antiseptic cleanser by a breastfeeding mother, the treated area (e.g., nipples) should be thoroughly rinsed with water before commencing breastfeeding.

Side Effects of Savlon Antiseptic Liquid
