Administration

• Preparation: Insert a fresh test strip into the meter in the direction of the arrows. The meter will turn on automatically.
• Application: Use a lancet to obtain a small drop of blood. Apply the blood to the center of the green square on the strip.
• Dosing Options: You can apply blood while the strip is in the meter or remove it, apply blood, and re-insert it within 20 seconds.
• Result: Read your blood glucose level on the digital display after approximately 5 seconds.

Storage and Disposal

Store the test strips in their original container in a cool, dry place (between 2°C and 30°C). Always close the container lid tightly immediately after removing a strip. Dispose of used strips and lancets in a puncture-proof "sharps" container to prevent injury to others.

Quick Tips

• Check the expiration date every time you open a new container.
• Do not transfer strips to a different bottle; the drying agent in the original vial is essential for strip stability.
• Ensure your meter is coded correctly (if using older Accu-Chek Active models that require a code chip).
• If "E-4" or "E-5" appears on the screen, check if the blood sample was too small.
• Alternate your finger-prick sites to prevent skin thickening or calluses.

Contraindications

Do not use Accu-Chek Active Test Strips if:

• The strips are expired (check the "use by" date on the container).
• The container seal was broken before your first use.
• You are using a meter other than the Accu-Chek Active system.

Side Effects

• Common: Minor soreness or bruising at the fingertip puncture site.
• Rare: Localized infection if the lancet or puncture site is not kept clean.

Precautions and Warnings

• Single Use Only: Never reuse a test strip; this will lead to inaccurate readings and potential contamination.
• Handling: Do not bend, cut, or alter the test strips.
• Hygiene: Always wash and dry your hands thoroughly before handling the strips to avoid contaminating the reactive zone.
• Clinical Interference: High levels of Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in the blood may lead to falsely elevated results.
