Dosage of Moko Iodine Tincture

Moko Iodine Tincture is an Over-the-Counter (OTC) antiseptic.

Apply a small amount to the cut, scrape, or burn one to three times daily, as needed.

Proper Administration

• Route: Topical liquid.
• How to Use:
  1. Clean the affected area gently.
  2. Using a clean cotton swab or cotton wool, apply a small amount of the tincture directly to the minor wound or scrape.
  3. Allow the area to dry completely before covering with a sterile bandage, if necessary.
• Timing: Apply 1 to 3 times daily, as needed.

Missed Dose Guidance

• If you forget to apply, apply it as soon as possible. Continue with the maximum frequency of three times a day as needed.

Contraindications of Moko Iodine Tincture

Do NOT use Moko Iodine Tincture if you:

• Have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to iodine, iodide salts, or any other component (e.g., alcohol).
• Have a thyroid problem (e.g., hyperthyroidism), as prolonged or extensive use may interfere with thyroid function.
• Are treating newborn infants (may cause skin and thyroid problems).
• Are applying it over large areas of the skin or on deep, puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious burns.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Warnings

• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor. Iodine should not be used in pregnancy or breastfeeding unless specifically advised by a doctor, as excessive iodine intake may cause thyroid problems in the baby.

Side Effects of Moko Iodine Tincture

Side effects are generally localized to the application site.

• Common Side Effects (Mild and Expected): Temporary brown staining of the skin (which fades over time) and clothing. Mild skin irritation, dryness, itching, or redness at the site of application (often due to the alcohol content).
• Serious but Rare Side Effects (that may require medical attention):
  • Severe Allergic Reactions: Hives, swelling in the face or hands, chest tightness, or trouble breathing.
  • Thyroid Dysfunction: With long-term or widespread use, it may disrupt thyroid function.

What to do if side effects occur:

• For mild skin irritation, ensure you are not covering the area with a tight bandage. If irritation persists, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider.
• If swallowed: Seek immediate emergency assistance or call a poison helpline. Do not induce vomiting. Give milk or a solution of cornstarch and water, and transport to a hospital immediately.
• Eye Contact: Flush the eye immediately and thoroughly with large amounts of water and seek medical assistance.

Precautions and Warnings of Moko Iodine Tincture

• Poisonous/External Use Only: Iodine Tincture is poisonous if swallowed. It is strictly for external use on the skin only. Do not swallow or use in the eyes.
• Flammable: Due to the high alcohol content, the solution is highly flammable. Keep it away from heat, flames, or sparks.
• Duration of Use: Do not use for longer than one week unless directed by a doctor. Prolonged use can increase the risk of side effects.
• Avoid Tight Dressings: Do not cover the wound with a tight dressing or bandage, as this may increase the chance of side effects.
• Drug Interactions: Do not apply other medicines or cosmetics to skin treated with iodine tincture unless advised by a healthcare provider.
